This unit is intended to equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable
him/her to understand human growth and development and its relevance to social work. By the end
of the unit the learner should be able to:
develop awareness of the process of human growth and development
identify the aspects of human growth and development and their relevance to social work
identify unique behaviour patterns and problems related to specific stages of human growth
and development
identify and support persons with special needs
