103Foundation, Administration and Management of ECDE in Kenya

Early childhood education in Kenya has developed from a little known concept to a widely

accepted practice in Kenya today. Various factors have been responsible for the development

of ECDE program before and after independence.

The unit aims at equipping the learner with knowledge on the origin and development of ECDE

program and the current status of ECDE in Kenya.

It also helps the trainee to acquire administrative and managerial skills necessary in the

implementation of the ECDE program.

It also aims at equipping the teacher trainee with the skills necessary in mobilizing stakeholders

on efficient administrative and management of ECDE centres

102 CHILD PSYCHOLOGY

Learners will be able to define terms used in teaching child Psychology.
The learners will be able to learn different personalities among the young children. They will  be able to explain factors that influence learning among the ECDE children. Teachers will also explain types of children , their characteristics and management. Teachers will also learn importance of play among the ECDE children.

By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to tell the importance of physical psychomotor among the young learners. 
- They will state factors to consider when developing learning Materials for the ECDE Children.
- Learners will explain factors to consider when preparing play for children.
