Early childhood education in Kenya has developed from a little known concept to a widely
accepted practice in Kenya today. Various factors have been responsible for the development
of ECDE program before and after independence.
The unit aims at equipping the learner with knowledge on the origin and development of ECDE
program and the current status of ECDE in Kenya.
It also helps the trainee to acquire administrative and managerial skills necessary in the
implementation of the ECDE program.
It also aims at equipping the teacher trainee with the skills necessary in mobilizing stakeholders
on efficient administrative and management of ECDE centres
